As experts in the industry, we have found the TSSP series of chips from Vishay to be highly effective for IR decoding. Unlike other receivers, these chips do not have any additional code filtering and provide a direct output of the demodulated 38KHz signal. This makes them a simple and reliable choice for remote control usage.
As stated by Vishay, these sensors are specifically created for Reflective Sensing, Light Barriers, and Fast Proximity Applications. They may be of interest for those in need of a simpler IR decoder or for proximity projects that do not require a VCNL I2C sensor. These sensors are ideal for break-beam setups with modulated IR light, as they are not affected by other IR signals or changes in ambient light conditions.
This board is a versatile option for various IR detection projects. It features mounting holes and a cable, making it simple to secure in enclosures or on devices. With the option to use a 2mm pitch STEMMA JST PH cable with headers or alligator clips, this board can be easily connected without the need for soldering.
Note that this board is specifically for proximity sensing or break-beam projects, while it can receive 38KHz IR remote control signals - there isn't a filter system so you'll get a lot of spurious signals.
Each STEMMA board is a fully assembled and tested PCB but no cable. No soldering is required to use it, but you will need to pick up . Alternatively, if you do want to solder, there's a 0.1" spaced header for power/ground/signal.
